    This is the toughest days ride and bush camp of the safari. Crossing the Kaisut desert, we head through the Matthew’s mountains into the Wamba area. Bush camp. [approx. 10 hours].

    DAY 08
    Crossing the Alberta Plains, we descend to the ‘Jade Sea, Lake Turkana. Private Camp site [approx. 5 hours].

    A trip to E1 Molo Bay, here we visit the smallest tribe in Africa. At leisure at Loiyangalani. Swimming pool and cold beers available at ‘Oasis Lodge’ - at cost!.

    Usually returning to our Club about mid day, you are free to explore Maralal town after lunch, or just relax around the Club. If you choose to visit the town, your Moran guides will accompany you to add to the experience. Before dusk the Samburu Morans and ladies will dance for you at the Club, before dinner and overnight in OUI Bandas.

    After a hot breakfast you set off through the bush. You may ride or walk, the gait is slow and the camels can allow you to change whenever you wish. Mattresses pad the locally made wooden frames 011 your camel. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to study the environment and take pictures as you move along. There are only a few places where you might be forced to dismount due to washed out luggers and river beds. The camels axe led by Samburu Morans who will keep you informed of what you are seeing and of the culture of the people you may meet. On your arrival at camp a shower waits you [water permitting] and your cook will have afternoon tea and snacks ready for you. Later in the afternoon you may choose to go on a nature walk with your Moran guides.

    Depart Nairobi at 09:00am heading via Nyahururu to our Camel Club in Maralal. Overnight in self contained Bandas. [Approx. 8 hours]

    DA Y 06
    The camel trek ends late morning back at the Club house. Here you will take lunch before walking with your Moran guides into the frontier town of Maralal. There arc crafts to see, the Sarnburu market, and a way of life different from other places you might have visited on your holiday. In the evening the Morans and their ladies will dance for you at the Club where you will be free to take as many pictures as you want, even to join in the dancing if you reel up to it!!. This night you are in the Bandas again and can clean up before your free return transfer in the morning.

    DAY 07
    Breakfast and your free transfer back to Nairobi arriving usually in the late afternoon. [Lunch not included on this day).

    MARALAL Day 6-7


    CAMEL TREKKING/WALKING Day 3, 4 & 5

    Mattresses pad the locally made wooden frames on the camels, and after breakfast you set out through the bush either riding or walking as you choose. It is a leisurely pace, and you may change from walking to riding as you prefer. You will pass by Samburu Manyattas that your lead Moran can organize for you to visit. As this is spontaneous, the Morans will discuss with the elders for permission for your entering, and you will be asked to pay something towards the family [or taking pictures and viewing their homes. This is not included in the safari cost and is only a small amount offered as a courtesy. Each day}’ you will have a picnic lunch in the bush, and then continue to your next campsite, where your cook will be waiting for you. Most evenings are beside water and a shower will be erected for you to wash the dust off [water allowing].

    After breakfast departure with your camels and Morans into the bush. You will trek through the area never quite sure what you will see. It should be remembered that this safari is not primarily a game viewing safari, it is one led by, and in total harmony with the local Samburu people. Picnic lunch en route, afternoon arrival at your pre-prepared camp where your cook will be ready to offer you afternoon tea and snacks. Later on you may decide to take a guided walk through the bush before dinner. Overnight under the stars.

    Free transfer departs from Nairobi at 09:00am traveling via Nyahururu, Rumuruti to our Maralal Camel Club for overnight in self contained Bandas [cottages].

    DAY 13
    Early morning start making a scenic drive through Lake Bagoria Park, a shallow soda Lake with beautiful scenery and also home to a sizeable number of Flamingo’s and other species of birds. After viewing the boiling hot springs and geysers, we proceed south to Lake Nakuru, home to thousands of Flamingo’s, as well as Lions, Warthogs, Waterbuck, Buffaloes, Hippo, leopard and many others. Dinner and overnight in a campsite outside of town.

    After breakfast, you are assisted onto a shuttle bus returning to Nairobi.

    Joining the safari vehicle at Kisima, you descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Baringo in the afternoon. This is a fresh water lake which supports a great variety of birds, as well as hippos and crocodiles. Indeed. The Lake is reputed to be the bird-watching centre of Kenya.

    We journey South via S. Horr and Baragoi to Yare Club at Maralal. Another forested area, Samburu abound in their
    red ochre. Dinner in camp before joining the camel section, overnight in self contained Bandas.

    DAY 05
    Departing early we cross the Chalbi Desert. The desert can not be crossed if wet, but there is an all weather road around the North side which is mostly lava. We arrive at the permanent beach campsite just outside Loiyangalani. After visiting Marsabit town, we make our way down into the desert and lava flows. We camp at Kalacha, a small settlement on the edge of the Chalbi desert.

    A day exploring, bathing and resting at Loiyangalani with boat excursion to and EI Molo bay.

    After visiting Marsabit town, we make our way down into the desert and lava flows. We camp at Kalacha, a small settlement on the edge of the Chalbi desert.

    Tsavo East – afternoon return to Coast Day 4

    To benefit from the cool of the day we rise early for a game drive before breakfast returning to camp for breakfast. After breakfast we have a game drive in a different area and return to camp for lunch. We then depart for the return drive to the coast with a game drive en-route whilst inside Tsavo East arriving at our hotel in the late afternoon.

    We rise early for an early morning game drive in the cool morning air with a chance to see predators on the move returning to our lodge for breakfast. After breakfast we drive out of Amboseli across the plains into Tsavo West for lunch at Kilaguni Lodge. After lunch we continue driving through the park and onto the main road and then enter tsavo east at Voi for a game drive enroute to our camp. Dinner and camp fire and overnight at our camp.

    In the morning we enjoy breakfast in camp and then leave for the drive to Amboseli passing close to the foothills of Kilimanjaro. We enter the Amboseli park and proceed for lunch at our lodge. After lunch we enjoy an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is a small park and the elephant and buffalo are easily found here. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

    We leave early for a clear start on the main Mombasa Nairobi highway and enter Tsavo West for a game drive en-route to our camp. After lunch at our camp we have an afternoon game drive to see more animals. Dinner and camp fire and overnight at our comfortable camp.

    Amboseli – Return to Coast via Tsavo Day 5

    Breakfast in the morning and last chance to see the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro. After breakfast we depart for the coat with game drives en-route through the Amboseli and Tsavo parks. Lunch is at the Voi Safari Lodge. After lunch drive on the main highway to the coast arriving at your hotel in the late afternoon.

    You have a full day to explore the Samburu park considered one of the more colourful and attractive game viewing areas of Kenya. Here you will find the rarer Grevy’s Zebra, reticulated giraffe and the long necked gerunuk gazelle. Dinner, camp fire and overnight at your camp.

    After breakfast you depart on a scenic drive to climb over high verdant woodland via Nyahururu Falls, often called its colonial name of Thomsons Falls, to cross the southern plains of the Laikipia close to the foothills of Mount Kenya as you cross the equator and then descend thousands of feet to the semi arid dry bush country of Samburu, home to the nomadic Rendille and Samburu Boran peoples. After a late lunch at your camp you will enjoy an afternoon game drive in this small rugged and remote park where game is plentiful close to the Ewaso Nyiro river.     After an early breakfast you explore part of the dry bush country of Tsavo East with a chance to see the ‘red elephants’, visiting the Lugard falls at Crocodile Point on the Sabaki river. Lunch will be at your camp and after check-out you drive out off Tsavo East on en-route game drive departing the Sala or Bachumu Gate arriving at your beach hotel in the late afternoon.

After lunch you have a game drive en-route as you leave the green hills of Tsavo West and drive via the main Mombasa highway to Tsavo East entering the park at Voi Gate.     You have the entire day to explore this jewel of a National Park that is small but full of a large variety of game. You stay in a cottage adjacent to the main house originally built as a hunting lodge. Mundui has 1,200 acres of private game sanctuary where plains game is plentiful. This is a wonderful way to conclude a special safari with exclusive elegance, good food and absorbing company.

    After breakfast you bid farewell to your hosts and drive past Rumuruti as you head for Lake Baringo to the east of the Laikipia plateau. Lake Baringo is a fresh water lake in a very hot area. The lake takes on dramatic mud tinged colours. Birdlife is prolific and hippo and crocodile are found everywhere. The local Njemp tribes people fish from modest canoes. Arrive to transfer to a motorised canoe for a 20 minute ride to the island and Island Camp. This part of your tour is not a luxury stay but you will sense adventure and timeless Africa. After lunch you may go on a bird walk and in the evening you have a guided boat ride for bird viewing.

    Masai Mara –Coast Day 6 & 7

    Day6

    Wake up early for an early morning game drive with a chance to find predators on the move in the cool morning air. Return to camp for a late breakfast followed by a late morning game drive until lunch. In the afternoon there will be another chance to explore the lovely Mara. Dinner, camp fire and overnight in the Mara.

    Day7

    Morning game drive and breakfast. More exciting possibilities for game viewing. After breakfast relax in camp and after lunch board your scheduled flight to return direct to the coast reaching your hotel in the late afternoon.

    Masai Mara –Coast Day 6 & 7


    Great Rift Valley to Mara Day 5

    After breakfast leave the lodge with en-route game drive before leaving the park. We drive to the masai mara arriving in time for lunch at the Mara Sarova Camp. After lunch there is an afternoon game drive to find the big cats of the Mara. Dinner, camp fire and overnight in the Mara.

    Amboseli to Lake Nakuru Day 4

    We start with an early morning breakfast and a chance to see the snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. There are some rugged sections until we are on tarmac roads to the capital of Nairobi where we stop for lunch. After lunch we head off, still on tarmac roads, for Lake Nakuru, with scenic views as we drop down the side of an escarpment to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, longest valley in the world. After entering the Lake Nakuru park we have a game drive on the edge of the lake before reaching our lodge. The flamingos are a beautiful sight. Dinner and overnight.

    Amboseli to Lake Nakuru Day 4


    Tsavo West to Amboseli Day 3

    We depart after breakfast and drive across the masai plains to Amboseli. Inside the park there is game viewing en-route to the lodge.
    Lunch at the lodge followed by an afternoon game drive to find the swamp elephants of Amboseli. Here you will find the game easily in this small but diverse park. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

    Tsavo West to Amboseli Day 3


    Tsavo East to Tsavo West Day 2

    We depart after breakfast and drive via the park and main road to Tsavo West. Inside the park we have a game drive en-route to our camp. After lunch at the camp we have an afternoon game drive to see the animals of the area. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni serena lodge.

    Tsavo East to Tsavo West Day 2


    Coast to Tsavo East Day 1

    We leave our coast hotel early in the morning and drive on the main Mombasa Nairobi highway to sala or Bachuma Gate where we enter tsavo east. Inside the park we have a game drive en-route to the camp. Lunch is at Satao Camp. In the afternoon we explore part of the area on a game drive. This is hot semi arid bush country with the famous Tsavo red elephants. Dinner, camp fire and overnight at Satao Camp

    Coast to Tsavo East Day 1


    Masai Mara to Coast Day 3 & 4

    DAY 3
    Wake up early for an early morning game drive in the cool morning air with a chance to see predators on the move in this Big Cat country.
    Return for breakfast. If it’s the season of the annual wildebeest migration take a lunch box and stay out all day to see massed herds, perhaps a river crossing and the accompanying lions. All year round the game viewing is good. Lunch and Dinner. Camp fire and overnight in your camp.

    DAY 4 
    Wake up early for optional Balloon safari or early game drive. After lunch you transfer to the local airstrip for the afternoon return flight to the coast.

    Amboseli to Masai Mara Day 2

    After early breakfast transfers to Amboseli airfield to board the Mombasa Air Safari flight to the Mara, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive to find the Big 5 in the Mara. Dinner, camp fire and overnight at your camp.

    Coast to Amboseli Day 1

    Drive early morning to your departure airport (Mombasa, Malindi or Diani Beach). Board Mombasa Air Safari aircraft for scheduled flight to Amboseli. Chance to fly close to snow capped peak of Kilimanjaro. You will be hosted in a private tented camp with old style safari tradition and enjoy this jewel of a game park to see elephants in the swamps. Excellent birdlife. Morning and afternoon game drives. Lunch, Dinner, Camp fire and overnight in your camp.

    Day 6
    After breakfast 0800-0830hrs, this day is spent exploring the Mara plains for predators & herbivores and a visit to the Hippo Pool to enjoy the crocodiles basking on the banks of Mara river; of course not forgetting a view into the Serengeti plains across the Kenya / Tanzania border. All meals are taken at your lodge.

    Day 7
    Depart after a morning game drive and breakfast. Enjoy a picnic lunch en-route to arrive back in Nairobi at app 1600-1800hrs.
