Rwanda Gorilla Safari, Volcanoes and Beach Holiday Day 11-14

Day 11 and 12:
Morning travel to the Lake Kivu for relaxing at the Beach. Overnight at the Kivu Sun.

Day 13:
Morning at leisure before heading to Visit of the Genocide Memorial where remains of thousands of Tutsis and moderate Hutus can be seen. Meals and overnight at the Hotel Des Millecollines.

Day 14:
Morning transfer to the airport for departure flight.

Breakfast early before starting the morning Chimpanzee trekking expedition in the forest in search of colonies of habituated Golden Monkeys. Other wildlife in the forest include: grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, Angolan colobus, L’hoest’s monkeys and owl-faced monkeys. Meals and overnight at Gisakura Guest House.

Morning breakfast then transfer to the Nyungwe Forest. This Forest contains a variety of habitats including montane forest, bamboo, grasslands, swamps and bogs, and is very mountainous too. It provides some of the best Golden Monkey trekking experiences in East Africa. Meals and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House.

Early morning hike to the Famous Dian Fossey Research centre and Grave Yard. Where Dr. Fossey spent close to two decades habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mountain Gorillas. Return for overnight at the Mountain Gorillas Nest Lodge in Kinigi.

Day of gorilla trekking safari in the Volcanoes gorilla park. Depending on the level of fitness, you may be allowed to choose the group of gorillas you wish to visit. The closest being about 2 hours or even a couple of minutes from the park boundary. Meals and overnight at the Mountain Gorillas’ Nest Lodge. Or Climb Mount Bisoke. On top the biggest crater lake of the Virunga chain can be seen unless there is too much fog… Botanically the track leads through bamboo forest, the habitat of mountain gorillas, giant lobelia or hagenia and alpine meadows.

Day 05:
Early breakfast before an early start for your climb to the Mount Karisimbi.Mount Karisimbi is the highest of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga Mountains. It is a huge dome, now dormant, that dominates the range, more in girth than in height. Its name in Kinyarwanda means white shell, which refers to its often white-capped summit. Interestingly, this cap results not from snow but from hail and sleet which accumulate in the higher elevations from its frequent storms. You will camp up in the Mountain before returning to base the following day.

Day 06:
Climb up to the Peak of Karisimbi(4507m) and then descend and overnight at Mountain Gorilla’s Nest Lodge in Kinigi.

Day 01:
Arrive Kanombe airport and transfer to the Mille collines Hotel for overnight based on bed and breakfast.

Day 02:
Morning travel to Akegera National Park for a gameviewing safari and birdwatching. Overnight at Akagera Lodge.

Day 03:
Another safari in the Akagera National Park in search of wildlife including; Zebra, eland and other wildlife. Meals and overnight at Akagera Lodge.

Day 04:
Breakfast at leisure, then transfer on a lovely 4 hour drive through winding roads to the Mountain Gorillas Nest Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Morning arrival or mid afternoon arrival into Kanombe International Airport at Kigali. Our representatives will meet you and transfer on a lovely 2.5 hour drive through winding roads to the Mountain Gorillas Nest Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Great Apes Gorilla Day9-10

After breakfast, the gorilla safari adventure ends with transfer to Mbarara for lunch before heading to Kampala arriving late evening. Overnight at the 5 Star Kampala Serena Hotel.

Great Apes Gorilla Day8

Breakfast early then transfer to the Virunga volcanoes for another trek of the Dian Fossey Mountain gorillas. The Gorilla Safari starts at the park offices and could last between 1 hour or up to eight hours depending on the Gorilla movements in the forest. Dian Fossey spent 20 years studying mountain gorillas in this part of the Volcanoes. Return to Gorilla’s Nest Lodge

Travel to Kisoro after breakfast through beautiful mountain scenery. Have a picnic lunch along the way enjoying the magnificent views of the Mountain Gorilla Volcanoes of Rwanda. Transfer to the border and cross over to Ruhengeri for dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla’s Nest Lodge.

Great Apes Gorilla Day6

After breakfast, report at the park offices for the Mountain gorilla safari briefing by the ranger guides prior to the trek to find the Mountain Gorillas with picnic lunch. The gorillas are tracked, located and after aproximately one hour with them, the gorilla safari ends with a return to base for a shower and cold drink. Dinner and overnight at The Gorilla Resort.

Early departure for Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla National Park with picnic lunch. Arrive Early evening for a forest walk along the River Munyaga before dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort.

Travel to the Chambura gorge forest after an early breakfast for an afternoon primate trekking safari in this forested gorge primates.Hippos and other wildlife may also be encountered which is why you would trek with an armed ranger. Thereafter, depart for Jacana Safari Camp for Meals and overnight.

Breakfast early then transfer into the Kibale Forest for a morning chimpanzee Safari in a truly African Jungle. Other primates Include: Red Tailed Monkeys, Black and White Colubus Monkeys, Grey Cheecked Mangabeys, Olive Baboos and Black Faced Vervet Monkeys. Meals and overnight at Ndali Lodge/Kibale Elevated bandas.

Morning breakfast then a take a 5 - 6 hour road transfer on a very good road to the edge of the Kibale Forest. Take a nocturnal forest walk to spot the Bushbabies, Galagos and potos.Dinner and overnight at the Ndali Lodge.

Arrive Entebbe, met at the airport by our representative and transfer to the Windsor Lake Victoria. In the afternoon, transfer to the Lake Victoria Shore for a speed boat to Ngamba Chimp Island for a visit to the Jane Goodall Ngamba Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Return to the hotel for dinner before overnight. (D)
