Oudomxay is normally an entry point to the more popular tourist destinations of Luang Namtha in the north and Luang Prabang to the south. However, the countryside of Oudomxay offers a very good sample unseen natural beauty. Although Oudomxay does not have a national protected area, it does have some of the thickest forests in northern Laos. The province is a good location for visiting Hmong and Khmu villages. It is also known for its natural hot springs in Muang La and some spectacular waterfalls, most of which are still untouched and undeveloped
The Nam Kat Waterfall , positioned in Oudomxay is operated by the Oudomxay travel office. It is a provincial protected area about 20 km southeast of Oudomxay (Muang Xay or Udom Xai). It is an ideal place for day outs and picnics. |
